DVS Shoes - Fresh styles and a legendary history
Fresh styles and the goal of producing the best skate shoes in the business. That's DVS! If you're into puffy tongues, tons of tech features, and the look of the mid-90s and early 2000s skate culture, DVS Shoes is not to be missed!
1995 - The inception of DVS Shoes
DVS began in 1995 by brothers Kevin and Brian Dunlop together with Tim Gavin, who had just finished his career as a pro skater at the time. The trio quickly came to an agreement. The Dunlop brothers took over the financial aspects and Gavin provided the skate team and was tasked with getting the shoes under skater’s feet everywhere. The story of DVS begins!
Bankrupt and back in the game
Largely due to the late 2000’s financial crisis and rising production costs, DVS had to file for bankruptcy in 2012. However, it wasn’t the end of the DVS story! Shortly after, the Sequential Brands Group recovered the company. To help pick it back up, the now legendary skateboarders Torey Pudwill and Daewon Song were signed on as pro riders. Especially with Torey and Daewon’s help, the company began to look up again.
The show must go on
The skate team continued to expand and numerous tours were done which helped the company’s image with skaters globally. Daewon Song made it on the cover of "The Skateboard Mag" in 2013 with a legendary photo. In the same year, DVS showcased their new Vaporcell Technology in a Jon Nguyen introduction video. The technology was well received by the skate scene and well-known magazines, such as the skate magazine "Manual", which gave the shoe a great review. DVS was finally back in the game!
Skate shoes with heavy tech features
To this day, DVS places a lot of emphasis on shoe technology. The company has taken the everyday problems of skateboarders and declared war on them. The result is a range of skate shoes that are truly built for skateboarding. "Bruise Control", "Hydrain Breathable Foam", "Vaporcell+", "Sock Fit Lines"... The list of amazing tech features from DVS is practically endless. Bruise Control" makes impacts much easier, which your joints will certainly thank you for. The "Sock Fit Lines" technology ensures a secure fit in the shoe and also warms your foot on cold days. At the same time, perforations provide sufficient airflow when riding. Few, if any, other skate shoe brands can match the tech and performance features of DVS Shoes!
Style of the mid 90s and early 2000s classics
As far as style is concerned, DVS has an undeniable, classic skate shoe look. Nowadays, many skaters attest the DVS look to the style of the mid-90s and early 2000s. Many current shoe models have wide shapes and thick padding that bring us back to the classics of an earlier era in skateboarding. Besides the looks, one thing is for sure: DVS Shoes are built for skateboarding. The company has not forgotten where it came from and continues to combine its skate heritage with innovative features. Made for shredding!
