The History of DC Shoes
DC Shoes from Huntington Beach, California embody extreme sports like few other brands on earth. DC was founded in 1993 by rally driver Ken Block and Damon Way, skate legend Danny Way’s brother. DC Shoes was bought by Quiksilver in 2004. The company has made a name for themselves for their stylish, functional skate shoes. In the beginning, their shoes were designed according to the specific preferences of their team riders (such as Danny Way, Mike Carroll and Rick Howard) and eventually branched out into other clothing categories as well. In addition to skate shoes, clothing and accessories, DC also sells snowboard/surf gear and backpacks.
The DC Pros
DC Shoes’ skate team has always included some of the biggest names in skateboarding. All-stars like Danny Way, Josh Kalis, Colin McKay, Brian Wenning, Wes Kremer, Evan Smith, Tiago Lemos, Carlos Iqui, Matt Miller, Tommy Fynn, Cyril Jackson, Madars Apse, Thaynan Costa, Tristan Funkhouser, Chase Webb, Alexis Ramirez, John Shanahan, John Gardner and Jaakko Ojanen all skate for DC. In addition to a skate team, DC sponsors snowboarders, motocross riders, surfers and other athletes as well.
Skateboarding is DC Shoes
Thanks to years of involvement with the Street League Skateboarding contest series, the sponsorship of gifted skaters like Danny Way and Evan Smith, and the annual Battle of the Berrics, DC can officially consider themselves to be one of skateboarding’s top brands.
